A former Pierce County corrections deputy admitted he drunkenly backed his truck over his ex-girlfriend’s head… and got just 10 days in jail, served over three weekends.
According to prosecutors, the New Year’s Day 2025 incident left the victim with multiple facial fractures, a torn ear, and a severe head laceration after witnesses say he backed over her in a Tacoma parking lot.
He later pleaded guilty to vehicular assault while DUI and reckless driving. He was fired from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, ordered into substance abuse treatment, and barred from contacting the victim for 10 years.
The question isn’t whether he lost his job. It’s whether three weekends in jail is justice for injuries this severe.
What do you think? Fair sentence or not enough?
